Dogs Bite Breakers
Sundogs 8 - CNAQ Breakers 1

HudacekTomas Hudacek, with his first three goal game, led the angry Dogs past the sleepy Breakers.  Hudacek scored early to get the Dogs rolling and worked hard all game.  "Tomas is playing great, he's tough on the puck," says Steve Humprey, "he might not be the best Slovak at home but he's the best Slovak in Doha.  I think he's trying to show up his buddy Ivo."

Greg Scott, benefitting from the playmaking skills of Steve Humphry also added a trio for the Dogs while Humphrey and Colin Boudreau added singles.

The Breakers, after a solid outing against Qatar Gas, just seemed to be waiting for the Dogs to bite themselves but it did't happen.  Jeff Robinson managed the only marker for the Breakers with Hudacek's buddy, Ivo Bures pitching in with the assist.

Ivo BuresBures was one of the few bright spots in a lackluster performance by CNAQ.  "We had a few chances, especially late in the game," says Bures, "but Tomas got lucky and we just didn't respond."

The Dogs certainly played their best game of the season and if they can ice their best players, they will be contenders.

Ice Cruisers 7 - Hammerheads 6

Dion Durdle led the way with three goals while Mike Boulanger, Doug Bilinski, Dave Smicer and David Coupland added singles.  The Cruisers are starting to roll.  The Hammerheads kept pace in a pretty even match as Will Hope-Ross, Ken Tutt, Ken Hickey, Luc Rouseau and Alain Assy rounded out the scoring.  Newcomer John Gulka contributed with two assists.

"I got a goal," says Ken Hickey, "one goal, should a had a couple more and geez Smicer is hacking me all over the ice - no penalty - and those goofy glasses.  Throws me right off."

The "DESERT CUP" is looking to be our best tournament to date. Currently we have interest from Kuwait; Saudi Falcons; Dubai Mighty Camels; Dubai Buds; Al Ain Vipers; Bahrain Sharks; Abu Dhabi Scorpions; Abu Dhabia Al Wadha and possibly a team from Newfoundland, Canada. Qatar will also have Qatar Canucks (A) and two or three "C" level teams. We will be setting up a process in January for you to put your name forward to play on one of the Qatar teams. I will keep you posted. Regards, Laurie Tournament Chair

Glad to see that Will H.R has the Heads again, it wouldn't be the QIIHL without that. Im still waiting to see Tim Rooney's name fly up the league table in points. Take care and keep your sticks on the ice boys. All the best. Nigro.

We are at City Center until repairs are finished at Villagio. Rubber ball because the powerful shots will break City Center glass.

Oct 21 2008
I've been in Qatar 4 months and enjoy watching you guys play so are all games being played at City Centre now? What's happening at Villagio and why do the guys play with a rubber ball rather than a puck at City Centre?

Oct 9 2008
As hockey players from the great White North, we must uphold the highest of standards. I propose the following changes to the league constitution. We should implement "Beer Fines" for various acts of ill repute. 1. Disregardus puckus (Major) - forgot the pucks 2. Failus to bearus apparatus (Major) - left articles behind in dressing room 3. Evadicus of compititionus non heedicus (Major) - did not give 24 hour notice prior to game absence 4. Ignorus of aqua vesselus (Major) - forgot water bottle 5. Amnesicus of jerseyus and sockus (double Major) - forgot his jersey, socks, or other key gear 6. Poorus frost topus (Major) - bad haircut and dye job 7. Cannilingus (Major) - took a sip from another's beer 8. Stinkus maximus (Major) - stinking up the dressing room with bodily functions 9. Equipmentos stinkus (Major) - having stinking gear Cody

Oct 5 2008
Breakers gain rights to Sturko for two pounds of that stuff you can't get here.

Oct 5 2008
Hey, Am I a Breaker for tomorrow nites game ? Dan (I don't have a team yet) Sturko

Sep 28 2008
Hey, I found a Czech Hockey (Red) left at the rink. If yours, track me down. Burt

Sep 27 2008
I'd always wondered what happened to Peter Gabriel. Now I know. He is a net filler in Qater.

Sep 25 2008
TULK? ON LEFT WING? Guess he was too embarrassed to take the mantle of the Numerator (Bryan) left. I'm excited to keep up with the QIIHL back in the States! Lets go Dogs!

Sep 25 2008
I guess I'll have to make a return soon to curb the goal scoring. Tulk in the top Ten???? Dwayne "the denominator" Parsons.

Sep 24 2008
I got a pair of shin pads for you Bill Dober 577-6675 (mobile)
